Vilamoura Old

Designed by frank pennink and founded in 1969 Vilamoura Old Course is one of the most popular courses on the Algarve. It is a tight, challenging course of narrow fairways through stands of pine where accurate tee shots pay dividends.

The first 3 holes are a good warm up but mind you don't feel too confident before reaching the par 3 4^th. This tricky little hole with its elevated green and tee is played over two hazards, a lake and a lone pine tree. The par 4 9^th provides the next major challenge. With an elevated tee, a wide fairway and the green visible, you could be led to select the driver, but accuracy is required here to achieve any possibility of a par.

The back nine has 3 par 5's, the longest being at the 16^th where big hitters will benefit, although accuracy is also essential.

A great course, this is a ‘must play' when you are golfing on the Algarve.
