Son Vida is the island's oldest and certainly the most celebrated course. Designed in 1964 by Fred Hawtree and renovated by Kurt Rossknecht in 2001, it is famous for its marvellous views over the bay of Palma.
The course is short by modern standards at 6036 metres, but is renowned for its sweeping doglegs and its dramatic closing hole - a par 5 where a second shot over water appeals to the gambler in everyone. You may want to take a few spare golf balls for this one!
The fairways on the first 9 holes are quite narrow and undulating between pine wooded hills and dense rough. Bunkers are placed to frustrate whilst the lakes on the 16th and 18th are a test of accuracy. Those who have been here claim that it is impossible to describe Son Vida- you have to experience it yourself.
