5km west of Albufeira, Salgados is a true links course with most of the holes featuring water hazards. Set in a wetland area and adjacent to a bird sanctuary, the combination of lakes and sea breezes make it a real challenge, with accuracy and club selection being all important.
The par 5 6th has a wide fairway with a lake running along the whole right hand side of it with the green also sitting to the right and protected by water. Don't be tempted to play too far to the left or you will be in trouble. The par 4 7th is thought by some to be the best hole on the Algarve and you will find yourself playing into the wind.
On the back nine the par 3 12th takes you over water and onto a two-tiered green. The par 5 15th is a long hole where you tee off over a tidal creek and the sandy hummocks to the left create quite a hazard.
