Poniente

A challenging and immaculate course ideal for experienced players and long hitters combining level holes with other steeper ones.  Wide, well kept fairways with water hazards and bunkers placed to complicate play are surrounded by pine groves and mediterranean flora to soften the blow!

Opened in 1978, Poniente has the kind of status on the island that is afforded to the older scottish clubs in britain, and is a favourite of british & german golfers staying in the coastal resorts around Palma.

The 6140 metre, par 72 layout of Poniente was designed by John Harris. combining woodland, lakes and large, quick greens poniente is a demanding course for all levels of golfer.  Beginning gently the course really comes into its own on the intriguing stretch between the 7th and 10th.

Poniente's most memorable hole is number 10 where you should prepare to be intimidated from the tee.  Water and reed beds loom on the right and bunkers guard the run-off at the end of the fairway.  The green may appear unreachable at first but we promise you it is possible to carry the water - we didn't manage it be we watched another player succeed - honest!
