Opened in June 1999 and the latest in the portfolio of PGA courses that include Woburn and Quinta do Lago, Catalunya now boasts 36 holes and has been voted one of the best courses in Europe. The magnificent old course with mature hanging pine and cork trees draws on the player's full repertoire of strokes. The new north course offers wider fairways and larger greens. Out of an area full of very good courses, this is the best.
PGA Catalunya has a very special layout with five different tee positions for each hole making it the only course in Spain with this feature allowing for varying levels of difficulty.
The course has been ranked in the top 10 list of the best European courses by 'Golf World'. PGA Catalunya successfully hosted the Gene Sarazen World Open in October 1999 and the Peugeot Spanish Open in April 2000 making it the only course ever to host two European tour events just 10 months after opening.
