One of the newest courses on the Algarve, set into the basin of a valley, not far from Portimao. The front nine is flat and easy to walk but has water on five of the opening holes, and the back nine climbs up a gentle slope. With many short but interesting holes, this is a good course for all standards of player.
Set in rolling countryside with lakes and streams cutting across many of the holes, the first nine holes offer a gentle start. The greens are generous and true and the bunkers are strategically placed and well contoured. The par 5 3rd offers a good challenge with water coming into play from the left. A fairway bunker will catch the unwary on the second shot and the green is well protected by yet more bunkers!
As you reach the back nine you will be facing hillier ground as the course follows the natural contours. A short par 3 at the 11th is likely to catch some golfers out. You have to carry the slope and be aware that the green slopes from the left to the right. The par 14 is yet another tough hole. A dog-leg right with water to the left. The 16th offers great views, but watch out for the bunkers guarding the green after the wide fairway.
