The wide, palm-fringed fairways of this (originally) Putman designed course present few hidden dangers but the numerous, strategically placed water hazards and bunkers will punish wayward shots. The South course was completely overhauled in 2004 and is regarded by many as the best of the three la manga courses.
Water hazards feature on no less than 15 out of the 18 holes and bunkers are well placed to catch any errant shots. We found the front nine toughest, with two long par 3s and some difficult par 4s. Only accuracy and a good choice of clubs will get you through here.
The second nine holes feature several dog-leg holes and both the 11th and 12th cross over water plus there is a new stream alongside the green at the 16th. The par 5 18th is an exciting finish with the fairway bordered on both sides by water and a well-protected green.
