The province of Almeria, known as the warmest, driest and sunniest corner of Europe, has been a destination for golfers looking to play Almerimar for some time. But now things have changed and with three new courses close to Mojacar, including the Indiana course of Desert Springs, and the well regarded Valle del Este, Almeria has now become a significant golf destination and is proving very popular with our customers. Granada is with easy driving distance from wherever you stay and this could be your opportunity to spend a day at the famous Alhambra Palace.
On the southern coast of Almeria is the town of Almerimar just 20 minutes from the airport. It has an excellent marina where you can enjoy a meal and a glass of wine in one of the many restaurants. The Almerimar golf course now boasts 27 holes and La Envia and Playa Serena are within a 20 minute drive. The seaside town of Mojacar Beach, on the eastern coast of Almeria provides a good base for the two desert courses and the famous hilltop white village of Mojacar is an interesting visit. With five good courses to choose from, very reasonable green fees and good quality, good value hotels, this is definitely a great area for golfers.
The indiana course was the first desert golf course in europe, built to full USGA standards and an experience not to miss.
