The Algarve, famous for its wealth of excellent golf courses, is now one of the most popular golfing areas. Less than 3 hours from the UK it is hard to beat as a golf holiday destination with its coastline of long sandy beaches and picturesque coves stretching for 150 km from the border with Spain at the eastern end to Sagres on the south western tip and there is a wonderful choice of golf courses, resorts and accommodation all along the coast. You fly into Faro airport where you are met by our local representative, who will be on call throughout your stay to ensure your holiday runs smoothly. The new motorways make it easy to reach your destination, with even our furthest accommodation in the Western Algarve just an hour away!
The central part of the Algarve is perhaps the best known area for golfers with the famous Quinta do Lago offering superior accommodation and four excellent courses. Vale do Lobo is well known for its many sporting facilities and the bustling purpose built marina and holiday resort area of Vilamoura, with its great selection of bars and restaurants, is very popular with golfers with six courses on its doorstep and another six courses within a 30 minute drive. Albufeira is a very lively and popular destination for holiday makers and is a great place to stay for golfers who want to party as well as play golf!
The Western end of the Algarve, with the delightful fishing villages of Alvor, Carvoeira and Lagos, provides the golfer with some excellent courses that are unlikely to be quite as busy as the Vilamoura courses. The area is a mix of the traditional and modern with some fantastic coastlines, countryside and historical sites to explore.
The Eastern Algarve is becoming increasingly popular with travelling golfers who appreciate a taste of real Portugal with some great quality and value courses. The working fishing port of Tavira, unspoilt by tourism, where the local bars and restaurants offer traditional Portuguese cuisine and hospitality is the perfect base from which to explore this part of the Algarve. Some of the best courses on the Algarve are close by and well worth playing.
