This delightful country has more to offer than just mountains and glorious scenery. The well kept secret is that Austria is also a great place to play golf!
Golf courses abound within the flat bottomed valleys so you don't have to be a mountain climber to be able to enjoy a great round of golf here. The golfing season generally runs from May to October with warm temperatures and during the rest of the year the fairways and greens lay dormant under a thick blanket of snow ready to emerge in the spring, fresh and green.
We recommend the region of Salzburgerland for a golf holiday in Austria. There is a good choice of golf courses here and it is easy to get to with many direct flights into Salzburg and an efficient road system. Just an hour from the airport into the mountains south of the city lies Zell am See. This quaint little town is situated on the banks of the lake with the glorious Kitzsteinhorn peak and glacier dominating the background. There are two courses on the edge of the town and many more within easy driving distance.
Just on the border of Salzburgerland and the Tirol and still only just over an hour from Salzburg airport is the famous skiing resort of Kitzbuhel. An old walled town, this is a great base from which to play courses in the Tirol. The Austrian Lake District is just to the East of Salzburg and provides some dramatic settings for a round of golf
So, for a golf holiday with a difference, why not try Austria for a change
One of the oldest golf courses in Austria and popular with the Duke of Windsor in 1937, the Salzkammergut golf Club is situated in Austria's lake district.

Plenty of water, superb fairways and a stunning, mountain background characterise this delightful course.
